We worked with independent bottler Hunter Laing to redesign The Sovereign, a limited edition range of single grain scotch whiskies. The specially selected whiskies have been matured in oak casks for over 30 years to create a distinct depth of character and taste. The existing Sovereign brand and packaging needed updated without the losing any of the brand’s prestige or heritage.
The new crown marque in the identity takes inspiration from traditional british sovereign coins and this balances well with the modern typography of the logotype. Contemporary design of the label uses classic typography combined with a traditional hand drawn illustration of the crown in the background to hint at the heritage of the whisky and brand. The individual distillery details, which make each cask unique, such as age and distilled date are highlighted in an offset panel on the right of the label.
The presentation tube design further adds to the quality of the finished product with bespoke print finishes, embossing and foiling.
